Fall Session Wardrobe Tips

I know, I know. I don't want to admit that fall is right around the corner, either. But alas, here we are, in MID-SEPTEMBER, with pumpkin-spiced everything reminding us it's almost here. I can't believe how quickly the weather has changed this year. When I get my kids off the bus each day, I'm already checking to see if I need to wear a sweater, which leads me to TIP #1!

1. LAYERS

Fall weather is unpredictable. Please don't get caught freezing your tushie off by pretending it's still summer. The plus side is if your session lands on a warmer fall day, you can ditch the layer and be comfortable no matter what. Vests, beanies, wool hats, scarves, cardigans, sweaters, wraps, and light coats are great layering options.

2. FOOTWEAR

Don't go through all of the trouble of planning out your wardrobe and forget about your shoes! Rubber boots, ankle boots, all season shoes or knee-high boots look amazing in photos at this time of year and they will keep you warm!

3. TEXTURE

I love this time of year for being able to wear thicker clothing. It gives me the chance to step up my wardrobe game and add in texture. Think cable knit, faux leather, suede, wool, velvet, denim and corduroy.

4. PATTERN

Stripes and plaid are classic fall wardrobe staples. But, I love a subtle pop of polka dot as well!

5. COLOURS

Muted earth tone colours (yellow, green, brown, rust, burgundy) are a safe bet, but navy blue, dark purple, and teal give a wonderful pop of colour and compliment the fall colours.
